Every year, Greatist publish a list of the 100 most influential people in health and fitness. After lots of research, calculations, and discussions amongst their team, this year’s list is now live and youre favorite Icelandic CrossFitter is on it!
There are thousands of people working every day to revolutionize the way people think about health, fitness, and happiness, and every year Greatist recognize those making the biggest impact.
According to Greatist; “When trying to determine the most powerful innovators in this space, we looked at several quantifiable factors for each candidate: social reach, research they’ve contributed to, professional certifications and degrees they’ve attained, trends they’ve set, products they’ve created, and media coverage, among other things”.
We caught up with Annie for a comment on the honor:
“I was very humbled when I got the message from Greatist. I am honestly just trying to be me and live a good and healthy life doing what I love with the people that I love. I think that is a philosophy that we should all follow and if I am able to inspire just a few to do so, I am very thankful for that”.
Annie is named 63rd on the list with the follwing reasoning:
“Once again, Annie Thorisdottir proved that she’s a CrossFit beast. Thorisdottir cruised to a first-place finish in the CrossFit Open this year, making burpees, muscle-ups, and deadlifts look like a walk in the park. She also showed us how important it is to listen to your body and know when you’ve reached your limits. After suffering from heatstroke at the CrossFit Games in July, she pulled out of the competition when her body struggled to recover. Even with this major disappointment after months of training, she still had a positive attitude, using the hashtags #allsmiles and #enjoythejourney when she posted about withdrawing on Instagram“.
